Time to take inventory of your kids rooms – are they conducive to playtime, homework to me as well as comfortable sleeping? Are they too cluttered with items they have outgrown? Is there an efficient area for homework and reading? Have you left room for play space? Analyze the functions of your kids areas and make sure the furnishings work for your children’s lifestyle.

Summer means outdoors so its time to make sure your outdoor space works for you. Whether you have a large backyard, a deck or a small patio, furnishing the area takes planning. How do you plan to use the space? Is it for lounging, reading, eating or entertaining? We need to make sure the furniture accommodates your activities.

You may even need a floor plan to ensure that everything fits. How about color? Does your landscape look into your Family Room or Kitchen? If so, the colors need to coordinate. Your landscape tones also need to be considered. With careful planning your outdoor space can be a functional and beautiful extension of your home!

Spring Into Your Interior Design!

Spring is around the corner and as your flowers start growing its time to refresh your interior too!

Take an inventory of your clutter. We all have clutter but there are ways to contain in cool ways! Figure out where papers gather and find an interesting decorative container to keep them in. Look at the accessories in your home – are there things you really enjoy or are they just object taking up space? Give away accessories that don’t “speak to you”. You should LOVE all the items in your own interior design.

How can we decorate for the holidays without blowing our budget and without having to store a lot of decorations year round? Think how you can use items you already own and adjust them for your holiday decorating!

Embellish picture frames you have on the wall with colored ribbons, tassels, branching or berries
Cover inexpensive prints or photos with holiday picts that can be taken off after the season
Slipcover pillow with holiday fabric or pin tassels or trim on them
Add colored stems, flowers, greenery or berries to existing plants
Embellish vases or candle sticks with holiday greenery or tassels and used colored candles
Add holiday themed towels, rugs or platters that can easily be changed out or stored in a small amount of space

Interior Design with a Plan

I’ve always had a plan, it helps you to get where you want to go and how you are going to get there. I always knew I wanted to be a Designer, I got a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, I became a Registered Interior Designer in the State of Texas and a Professional Member of ASID. When I started my business, Andrea Krolick Custom Interiors, Inc., my plan was to help people feel more at home in their homes. I wanted to help make their lives more comfortable.

When it comes to interior design, a plan is imperative. I recently sat down with Nancy Baldwin of the Dallas Interior Decorating Examiner, a part of examiner.com’s (Plano Edition). She did an interview of me that is on their web site. I outline why having an interior design plan will assure that you stay on budget, and that your personal style is reflected in your home.
